Requirements and qualifications: • At least an MSc in Ecology/ Grassland Science/ Rangeland Science/ Pasture Science or Related discipline with extensive research experience in rangeland management • experience in rangeland-based livestock production systems • good conceptual, analytical and verbal and written communication skills • excellent interpersonal skills • advanced computer proficiency and knowledge of relevant statistical packages • ability to work under pressure, willingness to travel extensively and valid driver‘s license • ability to attract research funding Preferred: PhD or equivalent qualification in Range land or Pasture or Grassland Science. Demonstrated ability to build and manage a research team. Ability to work with a network of collaborators and Stakeholders to achieve objectives. A strong publication record will be an added advantage. Duties: • Conduct research on management of rangelands; • Publish results in peer reviewed journals, especially in journals with a high impact factor; • Develop techniques for rehabilitation of degraded rangelands; • Contributetoeffortsofthenationalrangelandmonitoringandimprovementprogram; • Implement community-based natural resource management strategies; • Manage relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders; • Supervise researchers and technicians and ensure capacity building within the group; • Source and manage research funding Contact Ms Yvunne Lefyedi at yvunne@arc.agric.za
